So I was recently working with UI Automation using Appium and Cordova, and things were going quite well. Then suddenly whenever I launched the iOS Simulator, it would hang, with Appium indicating that it was waiting for the device to boot.
So surely by now everyone is aware that Apple has been ordered to help the FBI unlock the company-owned phone of the San Bernardino terrorists. Apple is refusing to do so. The FBI is trying to make Apple out as “the bad guy” by doing so, claiming that the phone might have information on where the terrorists were during the now infamous eighteen minute window that the FBI has no other information on.
Not too long ago I purchased an iPad Pro so that I could use it for development, and also verify that my existing applications worked correctly. Because it is a larger device, it is important to also verify that my apps can appropriately scale to the new screen size. This isn’t difficult, and you can test this in a simulator, but my mantra has and always will be: “there is no substitute for testing on a real device”.
